Glendale Arts Presents free POPUP! Bookfest series, Offering Multilingual Readings and Free Community Literary Events

WHAT:  POPUP! Bookfest, Glendale’s first annual free literary event series, will be held throughout October hosted by Glendale Arts in partnership with Writ Large Press, Friends of the Glendale Public Library, City of Glendale’s Department of Community Development – Transit, Museum of Neon Art (MONA), and Abril Books.

 

POPUP! Bookfest will engage community members in the art of publishing and writing workshops; an all-ages zine-making workshop; tour of the Historic Southern Pacific Train Station; and multilingual readings tracing the history and contemporary culture in and around Glendale. Featured authors and artists include: Chiwan Choi, Judeth Oden Choi, Jessica Ceballos, Peter Woods, Steph Cha, Désirée Zamorano, Naomi Hirahara, Gary Phillips, Tom Nolan, Karineh Mahdessian, Rhea Tepp, Sophia Rivera, Angela Ian Penaredondo, Lily Cabrera, Eliza Karagezian, and Amanda Wang.

 

WHEN:             Friday, 10/7, 8-10 p.m.               – Night of Noir Reading at MONA

Thursday, 10/13, 8-10 p.m.         – PUBLISH! project at Abril Books

Friday, 10/21, 8-10 p.m.             – Our City is Multilingual, A Reading

at Adult Recreation Center Dining Hall

Saturday, 10/29, 2-4:30p.m.       – Make a Zine Workshop & Historic Tour at GTC
